Course descriptions:
Level 1 – A complete course covering all you need to know to get started on the cajon. This intensive course combines essential and fundamental technique, excersices and various different rhythms and grooves ranging from pop, rock, funk, blues to latin and flamenco rhythms. The course also introduces ensemble work and 1 practical class on how to apply the grooves and techniques we learnt in a live music situation with live musicians.
Level 2 – Now that you have learnt all the fundamentals of the cajon, we will be focussing on performance, improvisation and creating music, putting what we have already learnt into practise. We will be working with other musicians, seeing how to apply the rhythms into practise in a band situation and we will specifically be focussing on a cajon and percussion ensemble piece we will perform together as a group at the end of the course.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Please note that all courses are subject to being changed, cancelled or filled up depending on the number of people interested in each course. It is of the utmost importance that you let us know of your interest in a specific course as soon as possible. If there is any reason you cannot make a course (such as date and/or times) please let us know about it as we might be able to accommodate you!
Thank you for understanding that we cannot refund ANY enrolment fees for whatever reason unless WE change something drastic such as a time change or a date change or a cancelled class. Where possible we would try to accommodate you wherever possible, if there are specific dates you cannot make, please let us know BEFORE enrolling as we might be able to work something out for you.
Please note that although it is highly unlikely, Heidi might get some last minute gigs or work, and in this case we will either arrange a substitute teacher for that specific class, or shift the class. In the worst case scenario we might have to cancel a class, this would be the only case where we will issue a refund.
By joining the classes you consent to the possibility of your image appearing on a photo/video that we might use online on our website and/or youtube channel/facebook page for promotional purposes.

*CAMBRIDGE CAJON COURSES
We are currently doing regular cajon workshops in Cambridge, the next date will be announced soon! Check this space!

Level 2 – Now that you have learnt all the fundamentals of the cajon, we will be focussing on learning more grooves and rhythms from a wide variety of styles, as well as looking at performance, improvisation and creating music, putting what we have already learnt into practise.
This course will delve further into more advanced and complex cajon techniques, grooves and breaks. We will specifically have a lot of practical classes with musicians or backtracks to play along to to gain more practical, hands on experience as a cajon player accompanying a band or musician. We will also focus on a cajon and percussion ensemble piece we will perform together as a group at the end of the course.
VIDEOS EACH WEEK COVERING WHAT WE HAVE LOOKED AT IN CLASS
We will film each class and a video will be put up each week containing what we have covered in each class in order to make practise at home easier!
COMBINING COURSES:

Students wishing to join more than 1 course pay less for the 2nd course and even less for the 3rd. We encourage all our students to join Level 2, whether you are a beginner or improver as Level 2 is mainly focussed on ensemble work and the more students we have joining us for this the merrier! The ensemble piece will have levels within itself so your part will be appropriate for whatever level you are on, plus it’s a lot of fun you certainly do not want to miss out on!
CAJON HIRE
We have a few cajons available for hire to those who do not have a cajon.
Cajon hire fee is £3 per class
Cajon hire is to be paid BEFORE the class starts when you take the cajon.
PLEASE BOOK YOUR CAJON AT LEAST 3 WORKING DAYS IN ADVANCE to avoid not having one available for hire!
If you want to book the hire a cajon for the entire duration of the course,
you only pay £20, thats 33% off! This is non refundable.
10% discount off the purchase of any of our Cruz cajons to enrolled students

PREVIOUS STUDENTS:
We encourage all our students to regularly practise along with the previous course work (see the videos) they have learnt to keep up with what they have learnt as there will be quite a few things we will not be repeating in the new courses. If you feel that you need to redo a course to revise and internalise what you have learnt, by all means do. Remember that repetition makes permanent!

    Hi Heidi,
I’m a seasoned kit drummer playing in various projects one of which is accompanying silent film.
I must admit I used to have an irrational dislike for cajons. Then last summer when I was visiting friends in Cambridge and walking towards the market square I heard a cool band playing with a cool sounding drummer playing a cool sounding kit. It turned out to be you performing with Flamenco Kitchen.
I’ve just watched a couple if your lessons and am about to wood shed on my new cajon.
So glad I caught you busking in Cambridge and good luck with the band and your solo projects.
    Regards,
    Mick x

Oh my God- you are very cool- and love your website, your idea- everything! Am not actually writing to you for lessons, but am looking for an intermediate cajon player who would like to accompany me on my songs and guitar- ideally have 1-2 nights a week free for rehearsal and gigging. Music is bluesy/folky/sultry/fearless stuff- have a lesson on soundcloud:). I have gigs lined up- I generally play living rooms- pay is by donation and selling merchandise… recently completed my first tour of European living rooms. Also if any of your female cajon players would like to perform/collaborate with other musicians/artists/actresses, I co-manage a women’s open mic/showcase and performance collective called fearless females- might be of interest.
