Course descriptions:

Beginners Level 1 – A complete course covering all you need to know to get started on the cajon. This intensive course combines essential and fundamental technique, excersices and various different rhythms and grooves ranging from pop, rock, funk, blues to latin and flamenco rhythms. The course also introduces ensemble work and 1 practical class on how to apply the grooves and techniques we learnt in a live music situation with live musicians.

Beginners Level 2 – Now that you have learnt all the fundamentals of the cajon, we will be focussing on learning more grooves and rhythms from a wide variety of styles, as well as looking at performance, improvisation and creating music, putting what we have already learnt into practise.
This course will delve further into more advanced and complex cajon techniques, grooves and breaks. We will specifically have a lot of practical classes with musicians or backtracks to play along to to gain more practical, hands on experience as a cajon player accompanying a band or musician. We will also focus on a cajon and percussion ensemble piece we will perform together as a group at the end of the course.
VIDEOS EACH WEEK COVERING WHAT WE HAVE LOOKED AT IN CLASS
We will film each class and a video will be put up each week containing what we have covered in each class in order to make practise at home easier!

New features & study material for this course
In the new course, I will be setting up a special page on my website for the class with a special password, where I will post up a video/lesson of all the ex and grooves we covered in each class each week and send it out to you guys each week, and allow for discussion and questions on each lesson page, this would make practising and learning what we looked at in class much easier. It will be a form of study material for you to work with at home. It would be important for everyone to practise a bit at home to keep up with the course and the rest of the group.
Enrolment for this course has now started so get in touch! Please note that if we do not get a certain amount of students enrolled, we will have to cancel the course so let us know as soon as you can if you are interested.

Hey Trevor! I am currently not in the UK anymore and hence I am not doing any in person workshops in Cambridge at present! I do have my Modern Method online course which is great to get on it, and of course if you are signed up to my newsletter you will know as soon as I set up a workshop in Cambridge again while on tour!

      Big hugs

    Hi Heidi,
I saw you playing in Cambridge two weeks ago – that was fantastic! My husband has always wanted to learn to play cajon (he plays djembe) and I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know when you are planning to start your classes. I would also like to buy cajon for his birthday – your advice would be appreciated on where I should get one for him. Thank you in advance! Good luck with your album! Olga

Do you do private lessons at all ? Am in Spain at the moment
but wanted to contact you to find out. Or will you be doing
any busking within the next couple of weeks and if so where.
Would really like the chance to see your group or take some
private lessons before i have to return to the states. Am in
Europe until the 2nd of October then have to fly back. Am
loving the cajon and thank you for your channel it gave me a
good running start. Of course there is much more to learn and
keep banging away all day every day. Something has to sink in.

      Hello Ganga!
At the moment I do not do any private lessons, I unfrotunately have no time for that, but I might be starting up my cajon group class in October, however, it seems you are resturning to the states on the 2nd October! We will be busking around London and bath this month, but we have no set concerts (there will be none untill we finish our album, which is well on the way). I would suggest you stay in spain and just learn as much about the cajon there as possible! And next time you come over, we will have some very exciting stuff up and running! everything is crazy here after the olympics and we are also not so busy with things as we are focussing on the recording for the next 2 months. Would have been lovely to meet you though!!! Keep practising! 🙂
